It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

The fact it required until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if not afforded the opportunity.

In the end, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a platform to deliver her newest gem.

Then best known as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her debut and seven international trophies have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not come up short.

Whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort is debatable.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it was a challenging time because it appeared I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

"But once you take the field, your fighting spirit activate and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the right-hander was underway.

"A chance to take the field and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was out Australia needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the confidence to do that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, should it happen, we are confident we can achieve it."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this championship should hear.

In recent days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this triumph coming after victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wished she had played despite the injury.

But while she afterwards confessed those physical issues have postponed consideration of ending her career, this championship is expected to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as skipper.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
