From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of characters who will branch out from the main group to begin their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might look unsuited, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the team enter places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Questers and Strategists parties.
Fans can anticipate learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
